Straight from the oven is the beautiful cookies that fills the air, they are Butter Cookies. My daughter loves to cook them, she is wonderful at rolling the dough, cutting out star or circle shapes. Sometimes they are topped with chocolate buttons, sprinkles, left plain or even thumb printed to place jam into. They are very easy to make and they taste heavenly.
1 cup caster sugar
2 cups sifted plain flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Topping of your choice
Turn oven to 180oC. Cream butter and sugar together. Add egg and beat. Then add flour, and baking powder and mix until it turns into a dough. Roll out on a board and cut to whatever shape you wish. Place on trays covered with baking paper and place into the oven for about 10 minutes or until golden brown. Place on wire rack to cool and then ......ENJOY!
