A Snail Family

In Blossom Corner we found a family of snails snug and warm in one of the Spring plants, a little Princess so very happy to find a family called them Papa, Mama, Baby Sister and Brother.  We watched them spiral into their shells so quickly when found and then very slowly creep, creep, creep out of their warm snug shells to look around and explore.
Mama and Papa Snail still hiding.

Big Brother exploring!

Baby Sister, so tiny and inquisitive...

In Spires School Room we are investigating all the animals and insects we come across in our Spring garden so the the first to look at  had to be the snail. We happily sang a favourite song perfect for snail observations.

Hand in hand you see us well
Creep into this tiny shell
Ever nearer, ever closer
Ever nearer, ever closer
Till at last you see us well,
Snug within our tiny shell

Hand in hand you see us well
Creep out of our tiny shell
Ever farther, ever wider,
Ever farther, ever wider
Till at last you see us well
Creep out of our tiny shell.

Then back inside Foxglove Spires we made a snail picture.
Knitting the snail on the knitting Nancy.

Cutting cardboard.

Spiralling the knitted wool to make the snail
We used some knitted wool which was done earlier, this one is pink!

Snail glued onto the cardboard.

Yellow Rose petals for the sun.
Leaves that the snails like to munch on and flowers from the garden.

All glued into place.
All done, a colourful snail picture!

Amanda, I suppose children see things differently, what they think are lovely and intriguing is different to what adults look at. Adults see the destructive behaviour of their munching and crunching on the beautiful garden. But yes a garden can not be home to the family of snails they had to be relocated!

Bec, thank you for visiting. The snail picture is cute isn't it, my Princes was very pleased with how it turned out.
